GENDER COLONIALITY AND FEMINIST RESISTANCES IN “NIKETCHE: A STORY OF POLIGAMY”

Based on the Mozambican novel Niketche: A Story of Polygamy, by Paulina Chiziane, this article analyzes women's subjective suffering because of the intersection of patriarchal, monogamous, and Christian colonial discourses and practices. The bibliographic research was structured in three stages: analysis of feminist and decolonial productions; survey of specific studies on Niketche: A Story of Polygamy; development of an analytical text relating feminist studies to Chiziane's novel. The article emphasizes that women's subjective suffering should not be seen as an individual issue but as an expression of a structural phenomenon linked to capitalist and colonial systems of domination. It concludes that debates on the decolonization of knowledge and the emancipation of women in territories marked by gender coloniality can strengthen feminist resistances and critical reflections on oppressions intersected by other social markers of difference.
