A PHENOMENOLOGICAL-HERMENEUTIC READING OF THE CLINICAL CASE OF “EIVA” BY IRVIN YALOM

The present article aims to conduct a phenomenological-hermeneutic reading of the clinical case of Eiva, described by Irvin D. Yalom in the book Love's Executioner and Other Tales of Psychotherapy. The study seeks to clarify central themes and concepts of Heideggerian psychology while fostering a situated and concrete understanding of clinical practice, avoiding its reduction to abstract or merely theoretical formulations. Based on Eiva's case, it was possible to discuss the open and plural nature of how phenomena appear, as well as the ontological condition of human openness. This discussion presents itself as a privileged space to reflect on the clinic as a place of confrontation with the fundamental questions of existence, while simultaneously preserving the complexity of the phenomenon and the singularity of the patient's existential journey.
