Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The contribution is new and original, and not has been evaluated to publish for another journal; otherwise, it needs to justify in “Comments for the editor”.
  • Submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format.
  • URL to references were included, when available.
  • The text follows the format and the guidelines prescribed in template provided by PLURAL – Journal of Psychology UNESP Bauru.
  • The author owns a register in ORCID platform (https://orcid.org/) before submitting the manuscript for evaluation.
  • The text follows the style pattern and bibliography requirements described in Author Guidelines, in the page About the Journal.
  • Author’s name was removed from the file, using “Document proprieties”, a “File” menu option, and from any other part of the manuscript sent to the journal, unless in the Author Information Sheet (which can be submitted as a Supplementary Document).
  • Authors who submit manuscripts to the journal must have PhD degree (at least one of them) and must undertake to give an opinion to the PLURAL – Journal of Psychology UNESP Bauru. This commitment must be expressed in the Author Information Sheet, after filling the required data, in which the author with PhD degree must identify himself/herself and sign it at the end of the document.

Author Guidelines

General format: adoption of the general norms recommended by the APA Style Manual, 7th Edition. To do so, you must use the template available on the journal's page (CLICK HERE to download it). Authors must strictly follow the formatting and guidelines contained in the template, under penalty of preliminary rejection of the manuscript.

Authorship information sheet: authors must attach the authorship information sheet as a supplementary document, containing information such as the authors' names, mini-resume, degree of involvement of the authors in the preparation of the article, among others according to the attached model (CLICK HERE to download it) .

Number of pages: between 12 and 25 pages for Original Articles, counting all elements; up to 12 pages for the other supported formats.

Languages accepted for the article: Portuguese, English, Spanish and French. It will be up to authors who publish manuscripts in a foreign language to provide a Portuguese version to be delivered if the text is accepted after evaluation.

Languages accepted for the title, abstracts and keywords: Portuguese, English and Spanish.

Title: up to 12 words.

Length of abstracts: up to 150 words. The abstract must include: 1) objective and justification/importance of the scientific investigation, 2) method (how the research was conducted), 3) results and 4) discussion and conclusion (relevance or implications of the results).

Keywords: five keywords that communicate the central concepts of the research, separated by semicolons, two of which must come from Terminology in Psychology (http://newpsi.bvs-psi.org.br/cgi-bin/wxis1660 .exe/iah/?IsisScript=iah/iah.xis&lang=P&base=TERMINOLOGY), other three of free creation.

Number of Authors Allowed: Up to five authors are allowed per manuscript. In the case of articles with a number of authors above this limit, send a letter with justification to the editor-in-chief for evaluation. The publication of more than one article by the same author per volume of the journal will not be allowed. Furthermore, authors with articles published in PLURAL - Journal of Psychology UNESP Bauru must comply with a minimum interval of two years to have new works evaluated by the magazine, even if they are manuscripts produced in co-authorship.

Figures and tables: must be prepared according to the rules of the APA 7th edition and inserted in the body of the text, in the place where they should appear. Images must be of good quality (at least 300 dpi, in the case of figures) and cannot exceed 11.5 cm in width and 17.5 cm in length (11.5 X 17.5 cm²). Each article must contain a maximum of five images – including tables and figures.

Attachments: They should be avoided, unless they contain information considered essential, and they should be cited at least once throughout the text. Each article must contain a maximum of two annexes, which must be submitted separately as a supplementary document and in a single file. They must be presented on separate pages, titled with the word “Annex” followed by the respective letters (Annex A, Annex B, Annex C...) when there is more than one. If the attachment contains textual information, it must comply with the formatting rules contained in the template provided by PLURAL – Journal of Psychology UNESP Bauru. In the case of images, they must comply with the rules described in Figures and tables.

Term of Authorization and Assignment of Copyright: by declaration made in the submission system itself.

Experiments with animals/human beings: in the case of research with human beings, the acceptance sheet of the Research Ethics Committee of the Plataforma Brasil must be sent in pdf - to be attached as a supplementary document in the submission process or Free Informed Consent Form (TCLE) duly signed. When it comes to research with animals, the acceptance sheet of the Ethics Committee on Animal Use must be sent in pdf.

Third-party material (except direct and block citations): require authors to express permission from copyright holders to use this material in the article (according to the APA Manual).

Evaluation process: blind and peer review, by internal and external consultants (ad hoc).

Minimum title of the authors: at least one of the authors must have, at least, the title of doctor.

Submission fee:  None. Submitting manuscripts to  the PLURAL – Revista de Psicologia UNESP Bauru is free.

RATING CRITERIA

Formal aspects
1. Adequacy to the scope of the journal;
2. Compliance with guidelines for authors regarding: abstracts, keywords, citations, references and organization of figures/tables;
3. Adequacy to ethical standards for research with humans and animals

Scientific aspects
1. Delimitation and definition of the theme and focus/object of the work;
2. Pertinence, relevance and originality of the work;
3. Explanation and adequacy of the methodology to the purpose of the work;
4. Clarity and consistency in the development of analyzes and arguments;
5. Adequacy of the conclusions to the purpose of the work, to the analyzes and arguments;
6. Adequacy of the bibliography to the theme and objectives of the work.

Textual aspects
1. Grammatical/spelling correction;
2. Cohesion and coherence in the text;
3. Clarity, conciseness and precision of wording;
4. Terminological and conceptual adequacy.

Literature Review Articles

Critical evaluations of previously published materials, with the objective of describing the “state of the art” of a given theme, pointing out contradictions and omissions, as well as suggesting new research paths. They can be of a narrative nature, in which there is more freedom in their presentation structure, as well as in the compilation of studies, or of a systematic nature, in which a protocol of standardized and quantitative analysis procedures is followed, presented in the standard structure (Introduction, Methodology , Results, Discussion and, if applicable, Conclusion/Final Considerations).

Empirical Articles

Reports of original empirical research, including unpublished data, replications or new analyzes of data already collected/known. They can be written in the form of research reports, using scientific methodology procedures, in a quantitative and/or qualitative approach, covering all stages of research achievement and presented in the standard structure (Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion and, if applicable, case, Conclusion/Final Considerations) or in the form of case studies and/or experience reports, reporting specific works with an individual, group, community or organization, containing analysis of conceptual and practical implications, with description of procedures or strategies of intervention, as well as illustrations of that experience, presented in a free outline.

Theoretical Articles

Strictly theoretical work, addressing and discussing the scope of theoretical and methodological models in an area. They can be written as a study, with the aim of analyzing and improving existing theoretical constructs, or as an essay, operating excerpts and exposing points of view.

Reviews

Short texts written by specialists that shows a commented and critical commentary about a newly-published book, guiding the readers regarding its features and potential uses.

Technical Notes

Short texts, proposed by experts, containing the description of original research instruments and techniques, as well as consensus and intervention protocols.
