Peer Review Process

Editorial Policy

PLURAL – Journal of Psychology UNESP Bauru only publishes unpublished manuscripts. Subjects from the field of Psychology and related areas of Human and Social Sciences and Health Sciences are configured as areas of interest for publication. It is an exclusively online journal, with open access, according to open access and copyleft policies.

Submission requires compliance with the general rules of methodology and ethics of academic-scientific work, as well as compliance with the specific formatting, structuring and referencing rules present in the instructions to authors. The free submission sections (original articles) receive works in a continuous flow and are evaluated by peers in a peer review and blind review system using external reviewers (ad hoc). The dossiers and brief communications sections are organized and managed by the editorial committee, submission being invited by the same, with works in article format being submitted to peer review.

All articles must be submitted via the online system. The journal does not charge any fee for the submission or evaluation of articles and other texts (APCs cartoons and submission charges), but the adequacy of the revision of the manuscript in Portuguese and the abstracts in a foreign language may be required and is the responsibility of the authors. A final review and formatting is done by the editorial board, which reserves the right to make minor changes and corrections for publication purposes.

Manuscripts can be submitted by professionals from any field, as long as at least one of the authors has a PhD. Up to four co-authors per article will be accepted, in addition to the main author. In order to guarantee the plurality of contributions, the journal limits author contributions to one article per issue.

Appreciation by the Editorial Board

PLURAL – Journal of Psychology UNESP Bauru receives articles written in Portuguese for evaluation. Originals will be accepted for evaluation as long as they have not been previously published. The abstracts and the five keywords must be presented in Portuguese, English and Spanish. The keywords must comply with the following criteria: two of them must follow the psychology descriptors and three of them chosen by the author – according to the Instructions to Authors. When approved, articles and other formats such as reviews, technical notes, news, testimonials and interviews and translations must undergo rigorous grammatical review and the costs involved will be borne by the authors themselves. Foreign authors who wish to publish in English or Spanish may send the text in one of these languages and, if the work is accepted, they must send the Portuguese version (bilingual publication) and will also bear the translation costs.

After submission, the work will be evaluated by the Editor, who will verify that the material sent is in accordance with the rules established by the journal. After the conference, the author(s) will be notified of the beginning of the editorial process.

In the next step, the work will be sent for evaluation by two anonymous reviewers, who may reject it, recommend publication with reformulations or accept publication without modifications. If there is disagreement between opinions regarding publication, the work will be forwarded to a third ad hoc consultant. The opinions will be sent to the author(s) to justify the result of the evaluation or to make changes to the text, and the author(s) must return the reformulated work within a maximum period of thirty days. Soon after, the work will be sent back to the reviewers for the evaluation of the review carried out.

It will be up to the Editorial Committee to make the final decision regarding publication and also specific changes to the text to meet the journal's criteria and operational rules.

The quality of the article's writing is essential for the approval of the manuscript, observing: grammar and spelling, clarity and coherent concatenation of ideas, citations according to the journal's norms, presentation and organization and adequacy to the journal's norms.
