Função executiva em crianças nascidas pré-termo na fase pré-escolar

A prematuridade pode alterar a regulação dos processos fisiológicos, emocionais e comportamentais, levando a alterações no desenvolvimento das funções executivas. O estudo teve por objetivo caracterizar a função executiva de crianças nascidas pré-termo na fase pré-escolar. A amostra incluiu 23 crianças nascidas pré-termo de cinco a seis anos. A função executiva foi avaliada pelos Teste dos Cinco Dígitos (FDT) e Trilhas para Pré-escolares (TTP) e subtestes Dígitos e Sequências de Letras e Números da Escala de Inteligência Wechsler para Crianças (WISC-IV). Os resultados mostraram que as crianças apresentaram desempenho na média nas avaliações da função executiva, em memória de trabalho e flexibilidade cognitiva (FDT). Entretanto, verificou-se que 74% das crianças apresentaram dificuldades na flexibilidade cognitiva (TTP), aos cinco e seis anos, e 50% no controle inibitório aos seis anos. Programas de seguimento de crianças nascidas pré-termo devem promover o desenvolvimento da função executiva, que apresenta associação com futuro desempenho escolar.
